Privacy Policy — PLCPro Academy

Welcome to PLCPro Academy ("the App"), a mobile application developed and operated by AS Automation Services & AS Automation Systems Training Centre PLT ("ASAS MY", "we", "us", or "our"), based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the App. By downloading and using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Device Identifier (Anonymous)

The App generates a random, anonymous Device ID (UUID) upon first launch. This identifier:

• Is not tied to your name, email, phone number, or personal identity
• Is stored locally on your device using secure storage
• Is used to sync learning progress, bookmarks, quiz results, badges, and premium subscription status
• Cannot be used to identify you personally

No login required. PLCPro Academy does not require you to create an account or provide personal details such as your name, email, phone number, or address.

1.2 Learning & Usage Data

We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data to improve the App: lesson completion, quiz results, badges earned, learning streaks, bookmarks, anonymous page views, app language preference, and dark/light theme preference.

1.3 Device Information (Premium Subscribers)

For subscription management we may collect basic device metadata (device model, operating system version, and platform type, e.g. "Android 14"). This is used solely for subscription management and verification.

1.4 Advertising Identifier

The App displays advertisements to free-tier users through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob accesses your device's Advertising ID (Google Advertising ID / "GAID" on Android). This is an anonymous, resettable identifier managed by your device — it is not linked to your name or personal identity by us. Premium subscribers do not see ads. See Section 5 for full details.

1.5 Information We Do NOT Collect

• Name, email address, phone number, or postal address
• Location / GPS data
• Contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access
• Financial information or payment-card details (subscription payments are handled entirely by Google Play)
• Biometric data

3. Data Storage & Security

3.1 Local Storage

Most data is stored locally on your device (learning progress, quiz results, badges, streaks, preferences, and premium tokens on mobile devices).

3.2 Server Storage

Minimal data is stored on our secure server: anonymous page-view analytics, premium subscription records, and bookmarks — all keyed to the anonymous Device ID.

3.3 Security Measures

• All server communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Admin access is protected with hashed credentials and rate-limiting
• Admin tokens expire after 24 hours
• Database access is restricted to authorised services only

4. Third-Party Services

The App integrates trusted third-party services, each governed by its own terms and privacy policy: Google Play (subscription billing), Google AdMob (advertising to free-tier users), YouTube (video tutorials), Shopee & WhatsApp (Software Install Assist purchases and support), PCloud (software download delivery), and AnyDesk / Microsoft Teams (remote installation support). ASAS MY is not responsible for the privacy practices of these external services.

5. Advertisements & Advertising ID

The App displays advertisements to free-tier users only, delivered through Google AdMob. Ad formats include:

• Banner ads — shown at the bottom of certain screens
• Interstitial ads — full-screen ads shown occasionally between screen transitions
• Rewarded ads — optional videos that a user may choose to watch to unlock a temporary ad-free period. Watching is entirely voluntary.

To serve and measure these ads, Google AdMob uses your device's Advertising ID (GAID on Android) together with standard ad-request data (such as approximate, non-precise region, device type, and app usage signals). We do not share your name, email, or any direct personal identifier with ad networks. We have configured a maximum ad content rating suitable for teen audiences.

Your choices: You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads at any time via your device settings — on Android: Settings → Google → Ads. You can also remove all advertising entirely by subscribing to Premium. Google's handling of ad data is described in the Google Advertising Privacy Policy.

6. Premium Subscription

6.1 Free Tier

All users can access the App for free, including basic lessons and quizzes across all 8 PLC brands, reference databases, programming and troubleshooting guides, video tutorials, learning streaks, badges, and bookmarks. Advertisements are displayed to free users.

6.2 Premium Tier

Premium subscribers enjoy: a completely ad-free experience; all Advanced lessons & quizzes; full access to the Suppliers & Shops directory; and 50% off all Install items (Annual plan only).

6.3 Billing, Renewal & Cancellation

• Premium subscriptions are purchased and billed through Google Play using Google Play Billing.
• Payment is charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in the Google Play Store → Subscriptions.
• The App does not process or store any payment-card information — this is handled entirely by Google Play.
• Premium features unlock automatically once the purchase is confirmed.

6.4 Badge Rewards

Users who complete all badges in a category earn +1 month of free premium, added automatically. This reward stacks with any existing subscription.

7. Children's Privacy

PLCPro Academy is an educational application focused on industrial automation, intended for engineering students, technicians, and professionals. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data to us, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal information, traditional data rights have limited applicability. However, you can:

• Clear all local data by uninstalling the App
• Request server-data deletion by contacting us — we will delete all records associated with your Device ID
• Reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads via your device settings

9. Data Retention

• Page-view analytics: retained up to 12 months, then purged
• Premium records: retained while the subscription is active, then removed
• Bookmarks: retained until you delete them or uninstall the App
• Local data: persists on your device until you uninstall or clear app data

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
